Pub Swainswick 1st Friday of every month at 6.30 – 8.30pm
An unusual but very friendly and inclusive pub. Very good beer. Brilliant place to meet up with friends and make new ones. Occasional live music from local musicians. Bring an instrument, if you like.
Sometimes it is a small gathering which means more chance to chat properly and sometimes it’s lots of people. A church and churchyard with a happy buzz, all ages, all kinds and from all over the parish and beyond.
Children are not only welcome but encouraged to come. There are usually plenty around, often playing outside in the churchyard or sitting in huddles in the pews.
See you at Pub Swainswick soon!
Come and Sing in Swainswick
Study after study has shown that singing in choirs creates a sense of community and promotes happiness and mental well-being, so it’s no wonder that, with a little bit of help from Gareth Malone, they are so popular.
With the quickest of Google-searches, I found that at least 35 of the 40,000 choirs are in Bath. You can find something whatever kind of music you like – gospel, pop, folk, classical, barbershop and world music are all there. Church choirs and community choirs, open access and elite, music-reading and learning by ear, young and old, experienced and beginner…
But if you’re looking for something local, in amongst all this happiness-promoting song is Sing Swainswick. We’re a small group, singing folk songs, world music, spirituals and whatever else we can find. Some of us read music and some of us learn by ear, anyone can join, it’s not a big commitment and it’s completely free. We’re certainly not elite, but we sing lustily and enjoy ourselves.
If you’d like to come along, even (particularly) if you think you can’t sing, please do. We meet in Swainswick Church 7.30-8.30 on the second Wednesday of each month.

We normally meet on Thursday evenings, from 7 to 8 pm. Complete beginners, novices and experienced ringers are all very welcome. For more information please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call 01225 287789 or 07869 591 189
Our intrepid ringers will be at it again on Thursday 16 November with a special effort for Children in Need. To make it more special they might well be in fancy dress. Come along to hear their sounds (hard to avoid!) and enjoy the enthusiasm. And all in a good cause too.
Winners! On Saturday 8 April Swainswick Church hosted the Bath Branch of Change Ringers for the 2017 annual ‘Striking Competition’ to compete for the Bette Parfrey Memorial Shield. Five teams entered in the Novice section and our own home Swainswick Band came in 1st place.
Cafe Swainswick takes place once a month on a Thursday afternoon in term time, particularly for people who collect their children from the school and for anyone else with an interest in cakes and community.
Fair trade tea, coffee, biscuits and cakes.
Any profit made is for Swainswick School
